Group of C15/C16 houses, possibly earlier origin, considerably altered fronts
to Minster Street.
No 7 has late C19 front, 3 storeys 2nd floor oversailing, tile hung, bargeboards
to gable. 2 windows, canted bays on 1st floor. Modern shop front. Rear
elevation gabled and tile hung, early casements.
No 9 has late Cl8-early C19 front, altered and modernised. 2 storeys and
attic. Old tile roof. 2 hipped roof dormers. Timber framing applied to
1st floor. 2 windows partly cut off by fascia of late C19 shop front. Gabled
tile hung earlier rear elevation.
No 11 has early Cl9 front. 4 storeys, 3rd floor timber framed, mathematical
tile facing. Brick 1st floor, band between storeys. Gable end slate roof
and slate hung gable end. 2 windows to upper floors, flush framed sashes,
no glazing bars. Modern shop front on ground floor. Earlier gabled tile
hung rear elevation.
No 13 has early C19 front. 3 storeys and attic red brick with stucco window
arches. Half hipped slate roof, band eaves cornice. 2 tall dormers with
moulded frames. 2 windows to upper floors, C19 sashes. Modern shop front
on ground floor. Rear elevation earlier, gabled and tile hung.
No 15 2 storeys C18-early Cl9 front. Tile hung 1st floor with moulded wood
coping. 2 reeded frame sashes with glazing bars. Modem shop front on ground
floor. Rear elevation earlier gabled and tile hung.
No 17 has circa 1900 front. 3 storeys gabled, tile hung. Superimposed bay
windows, overhanging on 2nd floor with linked cornice. Modern shop front.
Rear elevation red brick, sash windows C18.
Nos 1 to 17 (odd) form a group qith No 36 Silver Street. Rear elevations
form a group with rear elevations of Nos 36 to 52 (even) Silver Street and
St Thomas's Church, St Thomas's Square.
