Includes: No.17 The Westgate Public House UNION STREET. 2 houses and attached weaving wing, now public house. c1800 with late C19 alterations. Later pub front to Union Street. Thin courses of squared stone with plinth and painted ashlar dressings; roof of thick stone slates with rendered chimney. House on Westgate 3 storeys and cellar, 3x1:1 windows; right return to Union Street incorporates slightly later house. Westgate elevation has internal step up to renewed door at centre in narrow stone surround; similar surrounds to renewed sash windows, smaller on top floor. Right return has upper windows in similar style but top floor has paired lights and ground floor has pub front with door at left and 2 lights at right, pilasters between having carved brackets supporting Gothic hood with 3 shallow arches and flower-stopped dripmould. Etched glass panels to all ground floor windows are possibly late C20. Interior largely re-modelled late C20.
