House, now estate agency. c1700 with earlier origins,
remodelled in late C18; further alteration later, and C20
re-roofing and shopfront. Timber-framed with stucco front;
pantile roof, hipped at front, with rebuilt brick stack.
EXTERIOR: 3-storey 3-window front. Shopfront incorporates
former passage arch at left. Upper floor windows are 12-pane
sashes with painted sills, taller on first floor. Eaves frieze
on shaped brackets.
INTERIOR: fragments of timber-framing visible on second floor.
Close string staircase with bulbous balusters, square newels
with attached half balusters and pendants, and flat moulded
handrail, rises from ground to second floor. Ground floor:
area of stone-flagged floor in former passage survives. On
first floor, one re-used early C18 3-panel door survives, and
reset door architrave carved with shell and leaf motifs. On
second floor, front rooms have basket grates in plain
fireplaces; plank door with pegged-on panelling leads to
attic.
