Villa, now part of children's home. Early to mid C19; altered.
White-painted render with sandstone dressings painted black,
hipped slate roof. Shallow U-plan formed by double-depth 3-bay
main range with short gabled crosswings, plus back extension.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 1:3:1 windows, symmetrical, the centre
breaking forwards slightly; with plain pilaster strips,
1st-floor sillband, moulded eaves cornice with blocking
course, and shallow open-pedimental gables to the wings.
Centre bay has a Tuscan porch (up 4 steps) protecting a
square-headed doorway with moulded architrave, panelled double
doors and plain overlight, and at 1st floor a window with
panelled architrave, fluted frieze, dentilled cornice and
segmental pediment on consoles. The flanking bays have windows
with corniced architraves (all recent replacements). The wings
have canted bay windows at ground floor with prominent
cornices, and 1st-floor windows with moulded architraves and
dentilled cornices. All these windows now have uPVC 6-pane
glazing with casement openings. Two ridge chimneys to the main
range and one each to the wings. Set back at left end is a
single-storey pavilion with a round-headed blank arch.
Rear: large round-headed stairwindow with etched and stained
glass.
INTERIOR: entrance hall with modillioned cornice, dog-legged
staircase with cast-iron balusters.
