House. c1830. Brick with painted stone or stucco dressings.
Slate roof.
EXTERIOR: the north facade adjoins No.77 Holgate Road (qv) and
is of 2 storeys above a semi-basement and of 2 bays. The
windows are glazing bar sashes and those to the basement and
ground floors have painted rusticated lintels with keystones.
The gutter is carried on rectangular timber brackets. Shared
ridge chimney to left. The right-hand gable wall, facing east,
is of 2 storeys plus attics above a shallow basement. The
windows are glazing bar sashes with painted rusticated
lintels. Above the central window at 1st floor level there is
a rusticated elliptical arch, and the gable coping is stepped
above a similar window which lights the attic. Below the
left-hand ground-floor window there is a small basement
window. The central doorcase has engaged fluted columns, a
frieze with triglyphs, and a mutuled cornice. The overlight
has geometrical glazing and the door has 6 raised and fielded
panels. To the right there is a small single-storey projection
under a pitched roof.
