Shop. Late C19. Red English-bond brick with ashlar dressings
and machine-made plain tile roof with decorative ridge tiles.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; symmetrical front of wide central bay
flanked by narrow side bays. Plain parapet with ashlar coping
and moulded band below. The bays of 1st and 2nd floors are
framed between 4 ashlar half-octagonal shafts with bell
capitals at each storey and these continue as coved band above
2nd floor. The central bay has, on the 2nd floor, 2 linked
semicircular-headed plain sash windows with moulded brick
jambs and ashlar keystone.
The 1st floor has a canted ashlar bay window with plain sash
windows with curved corners and painted timber cornice. The
flanking bays each have, on the 2nd floor, a
semicircular-headed plain sash window with moulded brick
surround and apron panel below. The 1st floor has tall 2-light
casement windows with elliptical arches.
The ground floor has C19 shop front with ashlar surround with
projecting ashlar cornice with coffered soffit on brackets and
end consoles. Shop opening is flanked by 3 coupled Gothic
shafts, the central one rising to the flank consoles and all
with moulded capitals and bases. Wide elliptical stone arch
over C20 metal shop front with keystone and panelled
spandrels.
