House and shop. Mid C18, with early C19 alteration; original
top storey demolished c1930; further alteration and shopfront
of C20. Pink-grey mottled brick in Flemish bond with slate
roof and brick stack: timber shopfront.
EXTERIOR: 3-storeys; 1-bay front to St Helen's Square, 5-bay
front to Stonegate. Shopfront of panelled pilasters, broad
fascia incorporating blind boxes, and bold cornice returns on
Stonegate front: entrance in centre of Stonegate front.
Bevelled glass shop windows are margin-glazed over panelled
risers, and have brass sills. First floor to St Helen's Square
has tripartite first floor window with 4-:12-:4-pane sashes in
segment-arched opening, and 16-pane sash beneath flat arch of
gauged brick on second floor, both with painted stone sills.
4-course raised band to second floor: similar band to former
third floor now forms parapet with stone coping: both returned
on Stonegate front. Stonegate front has four 12-pane sash
windows with flat arches, plus one blocked window on first
floor. Above 2 similar sashes and a single blind window.
