Paper mill owner's house, now house. c1800, additions c1840,
with C20 alterations. Dressed stone with ashlar dressings and
a slate roof with coped gables and 2 gable stacks. Raised
quoins and a first-floor sill band. 2-storey, 3-window front.
Central doorway with moulded ashlar surround and flat hood,
plus panel door and overlight. Flanked by single cross
casements with raised ashlar surrounds, and above 3 similar
windows. Set-back wing to left has single-storey lean-to with
two 4-light windows and beyond a set-back door, above 3 plain
sashes.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
This house was built for Thomas Martin who leased the nearby
mill in 1785 and converted it from a corn mill to a paper
mill.
