Terrace of 5 houses. Completed 1845, altered C20. A building
speculation financed by George Ward, yeoman farmer. Ashlar,
slate hipped roof. 2 storeys with attics, each house
double-fronted with central entrance and 3 first-floor
windows. 4-panel doors with overlights in pilastered surrounds
with entablature and cornice. Plate-glass sashes, plain sills
and lintels; continuous sill band to 1st floor. Moulded stone
eaves cornice, corniced stacks forward and rear of ridge. C20
dormer windows added to Nos 3 & 4. The houses are numbered
from right to left.
INTERIOR: of No.5 has an entrance hall with straight flight of
stairs, slim turned newels, ramped handrail, 4-panel doors.
The second terrace to be built as a speculation in an area of
detached villas.
