Stables and coach house, now garages and flat. 1893. By
Francis Bedford. For James Bedford. Red brick, timber-framing
and render to first floor, sandstone slab roof. Half-timbered
Vernacular Revival style. 2 storeys, 2 bays, the gabled left
bay projects as a 'cross wing' with timber post supporting
upper floor and inserted garage doors left.
Divided stable door under porch, 2-light window and door to
upper floor centre, inserted garage doors right. First floor:
3 paired casement windows with brackets supporting projecting
boarded gablet left, small square casement and 5-light
mullioned window right. Deep eaves, tall brick stack to rear,
centre. Right return: an external staircase of timber with
pitched brick panels appears to be for decoration or viewing
platform only, as first-floor paired window and timber frame
has no doorway; jettied gable.
INTERIOR: ground-floor stables left have original tiles and
deal boards lining the walls, stalls removed.
Formerly stable and coach house block to Arncliffe (qv).
