Row of 3 houses with basement railings. c1840, altered late
C19. Ashlar, grey slate roof, wrought-iron railings. 2 storeys
over basement, inserted attics, on a sloping site.
Each house of 2 bays; entrance to passage through to rear far
left, d:w:w:d:d:w. Steps with nosed treads up to 4-panel door
with traceried overlight in pilastered surround with
entablature and blocking piece. Small-pane sash windows in
stone architraves, continuous sill band. Large corniced
multi-flue ridge stacks between Nos 3 & 5 and far right.
Alterations include plate-glass sashes and glazing to door of
No.3 and C20 ground-floor window frame to No.5.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: railings flank steps and protect basement
areas: rails with fleur-de-lis finials.
A straight join indicates the separate construction of No.3
but the block is probably that shown on the 1850 OS map.
