Shops and offices. c1870, altered late C20. Red brick with
painted ashlar dressings. Slate mansard roof with coped
gables, central ridge and 2 gable stacks. 4 storeys plus
attics; 4:1 windows. Symmetrical front, plus a narrow entrance
bay to right, with elaborate ornament to the windows and
cornice. Windows are margin light and plain sashes.
Ground floor has 2 late C20 shopfronts. Above, round-arched
windows with rusticated surrounds, hood moulds and keystones.
Above again, segment-arched windows with shafts and keystones,
and cast-iron balconies on stone brackets. Above these, round
cornered windows on a sill band. To the right, on each floor,
a smaller window in the same style. Cornice has paired
brackets and shell moulding, and an iron guard rail. Attics
have 4 shallow gabled dormers with round-arched windows.
