Farmhouse. Late C16/early C17 with c1800 and early/mid C19
additions and alterations. Timber framed with plastered infill
and brick with painted sham framing. c1800 south-west range of
coursed limestone rubble with rendered front and brick-dentilled
eaves. C19 brick range to east. Clay tile roofs, brick
chimneys. Irregular L-plan. 2-storey. 2-bay south front has
C19 4-panelled door and 3-light casements with horizontal glazing
bars; the ground floor window beneath segmental arch. Former
full-height stair window to right of door now boarded between
floors. Left end and front-right corner stacks; right end of
roof is hipped and continues as catslide over timber-framed range
set back on right. East front has same 1 storey and attic
timber-framed range set back to left with paired 2-light casements.
One storey and attic, 2-bay brick range has boarded door on right
of 2 windows with segmental arches; 2 full dormers of differing
size; 2-light casements with horizontal glazing bars throughout.
Irregular rear has single-bay timber-framed range in the angle
with large external end stack. Brick range has corner stack and
lean-to projection (housing bread-oven).
Interior: Scullery in mid C19 range to east has cast-iron range,
bread oven and wash copper. C17 boarded door in timber-framed
side wall leads to kitchen with chamfered spine beam and former
open fireplace with wooden lintel. Stone stairs down to small
cellar dug beneath timber-framed section a south-east corner.
c 1800 stone range has 6-panel door into parlour with fielded-
panel window shutters and Neoclassical plaster frieze. Oak floor
boarding and staircase.
1st Floor : C17 and later oak floor boarding; some exposed
wallposts.
