Farmhouse. C17 origins, remodelled and extended in the mid C19. Roughcast, probably
stone rubble, with a slate roof, gabled at the right end, hipped at the left end,
rear wing gabled at end; right end stacks, axial stack, end stack to wing.
The main range faces south and appears to be a 3 room and through passage arrangement
of C17 origins, unusual for the region in that the axial hall stack is on the wall
remote from the passage. A rear left wing at right angles to the inner (left end)
room is probably a C19 addition. The main entrance of the house is now into the wing
into a stair hall.
2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3 window south front with regular fenestration and a doorway
to right of centre into the former cross or through passage with a flat porch canopy.
16-pane sash windows with horns probably of a mid or late C19 date except small 2-
light casement above front door. The wing, which faces the road has 3-light small
pane timber casements and a front door to right of centre with a flat porch canopy.
Interior not thoroughly inspected but the ground floor room right of the main range
has a re-used C17 moulded half beam, a chamfered cross beam and a partly-blocked
fireplace with a timber lintel. A stair has been inserted into the passage.
A large handsome farmhouse which may have earlier features concealed behind modern
plaster.
