House. Late C16 2-bay timber-framed house with C17 lean-to to north
extended to south in matching style in C20. Original bays have timber
frame exposed on the ground floor with red brick infill. 1st floor
tile hung. South addition has ground floor of red brick and 1st floor
tile hung. Tiled roof with central brick chimney which was originally
at the end of the house. 2 storeys, 4 windows. C20 casements and C20
central gabled, tiled weatherboard supported on wooden piers. North
lean-to conceals north wall of house with box framing and red brick
infill. Through purlins. Interior ground floor of original part was
originally 2 rooms, now 1, with sockets for wall partition remaining
in central beam. Spine beam has 2-inch chamfer with lamb's tongue
stops and floor joists to southern part also have lamb's tongue stops,
other part plain. Open fireplace has wide wooden bressumer with run
out stop, 2 built-in wooden seats and salt hole. 1st floor has
gunstock jambed posts, exposed beams with run out stops and old
floorboards. Roof has collar beam and through purlins. Old door frame
with old iron hinge to rear and early C19 plank door.
