(East Side)

Walls and 2 bridges to moat at Peel Hall.

II

Walls and 2 bridges to moat, of coursed sandstone, C18 or earlier.
Inner and outer sides of moat are walled all round. Culvert bridge
probably contemporary with walls over south-west side of moat: north
west face of sandstone with brick arch-ring; south east face has lower
part of C18 or earlier brick and upper part of sandstone. Altered C19
bridge over south-east side of moat has ornate pinnacled cast-iron
posts, perhaps contemporary with rebuilding of Hall (not included in
this item) circa 1840.
