House. C17, altered C20. Rendered with hipped slate roof. 3-unit
lobby-entry plan. 2 storeys and 5 bays. The windows are C20 oak
casements with plain reveals and brick sills. The second bay contains
a single-storey C20 stone porch, with a hipped roof and with a doorway
in its left-hand return wall. A rear wing is partly of exposed stone
rubble and brick. The rear wall of the main house has a horizontal
sliding sash with glazing bars on the first floor.
Interior. Each of the 3 main ground-floor rooms has a large chamfered
axial ceiling beam. The left-hand room has exposed ceiling joists and
has a chamfered bressumer to its inglenook fireplace. The fireplace
to the middle room has a bressumer with an ovolo moulding. An
early/mid C18 oak stair rises from the middle room. It has an open
string with 2 turned balusters to each tread, tread brackets, and a
newel with sunken panels. The upper part of the flight is enclosed by
a 4-panel door.
