Manor given by Gilbert De Aquila in reign of Henry III to Priory of Michelham
and became a grange when a small chapel was built. During alteration to the
house in the C18 or C19 some apparently Early English windows and other architectural
features were found. The present house appears C18, but has a medieval origin.
Stuccoed front to flint building. Steeply pitched hipped roof of new tiles. Two
storeys and attic. Eight windows in four widely spaced pairs, sashes with glazing
bars and louvred shutters. Three hipped dormers. Central modern enclosed porch with
hipped roof. Modern brick chimney stacks. Rear exposed flint with stone quoins and
red brick window dressings. Flint wing at rear with brick quoins and half-hipped
roof.
