Farmhouse. Circa early C15, remodelled later in C15 and remodelled again and extended in circa late C16 or early C17; extended again in C18 and C19. Timber-framed, partly brick faced and partly rendered. Plain tile roof with gabled ends. Large brick axial stack with arched panel sides to shaft and brick lateral stack on west side. Plan: 2 surviving bays of Medieval house, both open to roof and heated from open heath fire(s). In circa late C16 or early C17 floors and an axial stack were inserted, the stack heating the hall on the left (west), and a 2-storey 2-room plan cross-wing was built at left (west) end. In C18 and C19 house was extended at right (east) end. 1 storey and attic, and 2 storey. Asymmetrical 1:2:1:1 window south front, the left in 2 storey gable- ended cross-wing with 12-pane sash on first floor and C20 casement below. At centre low eaves, C18 or C19 4-light casement, C20 3-light casement and glazed door and C20 flat roof dormers. Higher eaves on right and single storey extension on extreme right with C20 windows. At rear (north) gabled cross-wing on right, low eaves at centre and eaves raised on left; mainly C20 casements.

Interior: Hall has chamfered axial beam and joists all with hollow step stops and large blocked fireplace with chamfered timber lintel. Plank door to left of fireplace with wrought iron strap hinges. Small right hand room has chamfered axial beam with step stops and unchamfered beams across corners supporting cruck truss above. Both front and back rooms in left (west) cross-wing have exposed wall framing and boxed-in axial beams. Two cross-wing chambers have exposed wall framing and tie-beam trusses.
Exposed in hall chamber full cruck truss with chamfered arch braces tenoned to collar and cruck blades which are joined at apex by small yoke with arched soffit and with square-set ridge-piece which survives over hall and part of bay to east; all smoke blackened. This truss was originally open but has inserted wattle-and-daub infill, smoke blackened on both sides. Large tenoned side purlins and curved wind braces over hall. The purlins at higher level than the purlin trenches of earlier east truss. East truss also open, full cruck, its apex joined by small yoke and with halvings for lapped collar and braces which are missing; all smoke blackened except for later ridge-piece. Common rafters all replaced over main range. Cross-wing roof space not inspected.
