Service block, now part of management centre. Mid to late C18. Red brick with
slate roof. 1 storey. Gauged brick cornice band, coped parapet, triangular
pedimented gables to front and back over slightly projecting centre 3 bays with
clock in each tympanum, parapeted gable ends with globe finials, 2 ridge stacks
off-centre to left and right, large panelled stack in centre at rear, and
central square timber arched cupola with incurved lead cap, globe finial, and
weathervane. South-east front: 9 bays; glazing bar sashes. Quadrant arcade
with 4 stone Taecan columns behind forecourt wall to left connecting service
block with house. Interior: ground floor 8 bay groin vaulted corridor to
south-east with store rooms off; double-height former kitchen to south-west
with large fireplace. Clock in south-east pediment dated 1735 and building
attributed to John James, but probably later. V.C.H. (Bucks), Vol.3, p.304;
