Dated 1887, by Thomas Robinson. An almost wholly symmetrical building in elaborately cut
red brick. The hall proper stands above and behind a screen wall and is 5 bays wide with
the windows alternately of 3 and 2 lights. Over the 3 light windows are shaped gables;
above and behind the central gable a cupola on the roof line. The screen wall is one
storey high and bays wide, the centre one with the entrance flanked by coupled squat
pilasters and surmounted by a semi-circular gable. To the left of this screen wall a
subsidiary entrance surmounted by a tall tower. Then, on other aide of this composition,
2 very similar pavilion blocks, each 2 storeys high and 4 bays wide with shops on the
ground floor and a triangular gable over the centre 2 bays.
