Cottage. Circa late C17 or early to mid C18, refronted in circa
late C19. Timber frame with plastered wattle panels, faced in red
brick on south east front; on stone rubble plinth. Thatched roof
with gabled ends. Stone rubble outshut with plain tile roof.
Large stone stack at north east end with set offs and brick shaft.
2-room plan with direct entry into the front of the left hand
(north east) room which is heated from a large gable end stack and
with unheated right hand (south west) room. Later outshut on
right (south west) end. Ground at rear (south east) falls steeply
away.
1 storey and attic. North west front has exposed large framing
and circa C19 plank door to left of centre and small window to
left of door. North east end has large stack with corrugated iron
sheet lean-to roof over oven. South west end has plank door in
end of outshut with lean-to tile roof and small C19 casement above
in gable. Rear south east: 2 C19 2-light casements with glazing
bars in segmental headed openings and brick sills.
Interior: Left hand (N.E.) room has thin chamfered axial beam
with run out stops and late C19 iron range in fireplace. Right
hand (South west) room has chamfered axial beam and exposed wall
and partition framing. Attic chambers central partition and gable
ends support exposed purlins and diagonal ridgepiece; light
scantling wind braces; various old plank doors.
