House, early C17 with alterations of C19 and C20. 1 storey and attics. Hall
and 2-cell cross-wing. Timber-framed and plastered; the north elevation to
Old Ipswich Road was encased in red brick in C19. Thatched roof with axial
C17 chimney of red brick; an external chimney at the cross-wing gable addea
late C18 or C19. C19 and C20 small-pane casements. C20 boarded entrance
door. Plain but quite complete timber-framing exposed internally, with some
reuse of earlier timber. Blocked diamond-mullioned windows in the cross-wing
and wind-braced clasped-purlin roof. The hall is structurally separate and
perhaps later, with large open fireplace.
