II
Farmhouse, C16, of timber frame and red brick, with pantile roof. 2 storeys
and attics, with continuous single storey outshut to north. Timber frame
extends from the east end up to the early C18 brickwork at the west end.
The walls have been raised during the late C18 above the original wall plate
over 2/3rds of the building. South facade now has the appearance of a lobby
entrance type house, extended to the east with scattered fenestration of C19
casement windows with flat brick arches. C19 sash windows to the left of
the entrance door with flat gauged brick arch, all in C18 brick refronting.
West gable end of early C18 brickwork with external stepped gable stack with
plat band at attic floor level which extends across the stack. Low blocked
window with segmental arch, and first floor partially blocked opening now
filled with ovolo moulded 2 light casement window. North elevation rendered
timber frame above outshut, and contains early C18 mullion and transom window.
Large open brick fireplaces with timber bressumers, chamfered axial, and floor
beams and some wall framing visible inside. Staggered butt purlin roof.
