Farmhouse. Early C17 or older, S part brick cased in C18, N wing brick
cased in C19, S part walls rebuilt after bomb damage in C20. Red brick,
tile roof, wooden eaves cornice to S part renewed. An irregular
2-storeys house facing W, with S part consisting of a hall, presumably
originally extending further to W, and an E crosswing projecting to S
with cellar below and external E-wall chimney. This part has hipped
roofs, wide casement windows, and old ceiling beams exposed. Extending
to N a double-pile range of C19 external appearance but of much older
origin. At the junction of the 2 parts is a lobby entrance next to a
very large and tall chimney in narrow red bricks terminating in 6 tall
octagonal shafts with corbelled caps. Verbal corruption of 'funnels' to
'tunnels' has given the farm's name.
