Built late C17 as an almshouse for aged widows and formerly known as Wilbraham's
Almshouses. Timber framed with brick infilling, painted black and white, 2 storeys;
gabled end to Second Wood Street, 3 original wood mullioned windows of 4 lights
to front, the uppers transomed and those to gabled end of 5 lights - all with
modern or restored leaded lights; 3 moulded wood doorways with later doors, modern
barge boards; tiles. The building now incorporates C19 cottages at rear and when
inspected had recently been well restored and converted from a restaurant to
a public house but its character has been preserved and the interior retains
exposed timber framing throughout.
