2/55 Meadowside and house adjoining on
east
GV II
2 houses. Probably C18 origins extended in C19. Stone rubble, rendered and painted
and slate hung with rag slates on front. Rag slate roof with gable ends. Brick
shafts to axial stack, end stack on right and rear lateral stack.
Plan: Original plan uncertain. Pair of single depth two room and cross passage plan
houses. The right hand house is heated by an end stack on right and axial stack on
left. It is possible that Meadowside on the left, was originally of one room plan
and that the left hand room, which is heated by a rear lateral stack, is an
extension.
Exterior: Two storeys. Asymmetrical 4-window front. Slate hung above base with
exception of left hand end. C20 porch to right hand house is flanked by two late C19
or C20 2-light casements. Two similar casements above. Meadowside has a slate hood
above the entrance flanked by two 2-light casements without glazing bars, and two
similar windows above. C19 or C20 2-storey outshut on right hand end.
Interior not inspected.
