Gateway and wing walls. Probably C18. Ham stone with some Portland stone, red brick walls, wrought iron gates. Gateway seton axis of house; the piers in Ham ashlar, square plan, with moulded plinth, 3 fielded panels on south face, plain frieze and cornice mould tops, with Portland stone stops and carved beasts standing on cabled bases. Gates of wrought-iron, with segmental top rails, most of the hollow filled with scrollwork, with more scrollwork to sides and middle rails, and at lower level 2 tiers barbed point rails. Small rusticated ashlar buttresses and scroll brace to each outer face of piers, then sweep down to low brick wall initially curved, then marking straight boundary to a ha-ha; set with moulded Ham stone copings, about 160 metres total length. Important element in the setting of Hazelgrove House (qv).
