House, now offices. Mid C18, with a small early C17 rear wing
along Angel Lane. Red brick; plaintiled mansard roof;
timber-framed rear range.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, attics and cellars. Facade with a plain
stone-capped parapet and wooden modillion eaves cornice; brick
rustication to the quoins; a plain brick band between the
ground and 1st storeys. 5 window range: 12-pane sashes with
wood reveals, flat gauged arches and projecting sills. 3
gabled dormers have 2-light casement windows with a single
horizontal bar to lights. Central doorway: doorcase with plain
reveals, Gibbs architrave and triangular pediment. Door with 6
raised fielded panels.
INTERIOR: a rear cellar, lined with old brick and re-used
stone blocks, has the remains of an original timber ceiling; a
large front cellar, part brick vaulted, has some stone blocks
in the walls and much later brickwork. No original features
survive inside the front range. An Edwardian stair in Jacobean
style runs the whole height of the building. The timber-framed
rear has some plain beams exposed on the ground storey.
