House, now flats, and adjoining boundary wall. Dated 1828,
with additions 1874 and C20 alterations. For Thomas Makinson.
Coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and rendered rear, with
stone slate roof and 2 coped stone gable stacks. Quoins, coped
gables.
3 storeys; 4 window range. 4 paired plain sashes and above, 4
similar smaller windows, all with multi-keystone lintels.
Ground floor has a round-arched arcade with dated keystones.
Three 3-light casements with fanlights, and in the second bay,
a late C19 porch with coped gable and recessed glazed door.
Right return has a small gabled single storey addition with a
casement. Left return has stone external steps to a first
floor reeded stone doorcase with keystone and round-headed
door. To left, a C20 casement. Above, two C20 2-light
casements. INTERIOR not inspected.
Outside, coursed squared stone boundary wall with half-round
coping and 4 lozenge-shaped stone gate piers with pyramidal
caps. Later the property of the Mountford family and Earl
Fitzwilliam.
