29/03/77 Brook Hall and adjoining garden wall

GV II

House and adjoining garden wall. Early C19. For Joseph Ward,
coalmaster. Coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and
hipped slate roof with 2 coped stone side wall and rear wall
stacks. Plinth, first floor sillband, wooden eaves gutter. 2
storeys; 3 window range. Double range plan. Windows are 16
pane sashes. Slightly projecting centre with a single window
and coped gable containing a coat of arms. On either side, a
single window. These windows have projecting stone surrounds.
Stone doorcase with engaged Doric piers and open pediment.
Half-glazed C20 door with fanlight. Rear has a round-headed
stair window and a hipped 2 storey rear wing.
INTERIOR not inspected.
Adjoining garden wall, to right, coursed squared stone, has
ramped gabled coping and doorway with wrought-iron gate.
