Offices, now restaurant, offices etc. 1929, by Harry S.
Fairhurst.Steel frame with Portland stone cladding (roof not
visible). Large trapeziform plan on island site. Neo-classical
style. Five storeys plus 2 attic storeys, 1:14:1 bays, the end
bays set back and the first 2 storeys of the main range
forming a podium to a 3-storey 14-bay order of giant
Corinthian-style pilasters with plain frieze and dentilled
cornice, over which are 2 attic storeys, the upper set back
and finished with a frieze, cornice and blocking course.
Banded rustication to ground floor, which has an arcade of
round-headed windows with stepped voussoirs; 2-light mullioned
windows to 1st floor and 1st attic storey; bronze-framed
3-light windows to the 3 floors of the pilastrade, with
ornamental panels between the floors; simple 1-light windows
to the upper attic storey. Return elevations similar, but with
2 columns in antis.
