Cottage. Dated 1842 in central gable; altered and recently
renovated. Coursed rock-faced sandstone with quoins, stone
slate roof. Jacobean style. Single-depth double-fronted plan
(built back-to-back against Old Oak Cottage (qv).
2 storeys and 3 bays, symmetrical, the centre breaking
forwards and gabled; with a 4-centred arched doorway now
covered by a recently-added gabled porch, a wooden
cross-window above this with a chamfered reveal and a
hood-mould, and a heart-shaped shield in the gable above,
inscribed "R B / 1842" and surmounted by a lion mask; and
large rectangular windows in the flanking bays, all with
chamfered reveals and hood-moulds, and 4-pane top-hung
casements imitating sashes. Chimneys at both gables and in the
centre of the ridge. Left gable has large window at ground
floor, like those at the front, and small window above.
