Cottage. Circa 1770 with some C20 alterations. Built of flint with red brick pilasters, tiled roof with catslide to rear, external flint and brick stack to right hand side and brick chimneyside to rear slope. Two storeys; three windows. First floor windows are metal casements with leaded lights in original openings. Ground floor windows are enlarged C20 casement windows with shutters. Central doorcase with C19 gabled trelliswork porch and half-glazed door with reeded surround and fleur de lys. Right side elevation has two original metal casements with pintle hinges. Left side has half-glazed door with reeded surround with fleur de lys and pedimented surround. Rear elevation has metal casements, gabled flint and brick one storey service room, stock brick C19 closet and C20 flat-roofed extension to part of original building. Interior has staircase with stick balusters to rear and front room with open fireplace with wooden bressumer and spine beam. The Cottage was built as a cottage for the curate of the Parish Church of St Mary. In the early 1800s it became the original Police Station for Chesham with a lock up at the rear for detaining prisoners.
