Farmhouse. c.1700. Possibly incorporating earlier work, with
late C18 and early C19 additions. For the Shipman family. Brick
with plain tile and pantile roofs, gabled and lean-to. Brick
plinth, first and second floor bands, dentillated eaves, coped
gables with kneelers. 3 gable stacks. 2 storeys plus attics, 4
bays. L-plan with lean-to in return angle. Windows are mainly
C19 and C20 casements. Main north east front has to left C20
lean-to brick garage. To right, 4 casements. Above, central
stair light. Above again, 4 casements. Above again, 3 small
Yorkshire sashes. North west gable has single blocked opening.
South east gable has to left, blocked opening and C20 casement.
Above, 2 C20 casements and above again, a Yorkshire sash. Rear
elevation has to left C20 single bay lean-to addition with
casement and door. To its right, recess containing C20 door with
flanking lights, flanked by single C20 bow windows. Interior has
early C18 dogleg stair, shallow pitch, intersecting string and
moulded handrail, square newels and inverted vase and stem
balusters. Softwood attic winder stairs with stick balusters.
Chamfered span beams with stops. 2 C18 panelled fitted
cupboards. 4 C18 2 panel doors. Late C18 Adam style hob grate
with decorative panels and plain wooden surround. Early C19
small kitchen range.
