39/10003 Milton Court Barns
II
Pair of barns linked by cartshed. Dated 1832 on date plaque to south
east elevation, beneath crown and the initial P. Built of flint with
red and grey brick diaper work quoins, plinth and pilasters and 2
tiers of 6 ventilation slits. Slate roofs. Gable ends have 4 tiers of
ventilation slits and unloading doors. Cambered double doors to outer
sides and gabled brick porches to inner sides. South eastern barn
porch has dovecote in gable. 7 bay interiors with scientific kingpost
roofs with 3 tiers of purlins and diagonal braces. Round-headed arches
to porches. Unusual radiused internal brick corner linking former cart
shed is of brick with slate roof. This was formerly open ended with
5 circular brick piers but has now been closed in with weather-
boarding.
