about 2m west of west door of
Church of the Holy Cross
GV II
Group of three chest tombs, early to mid C18, ashlar. From north:
a) c1700 with profuse foliate scroll decoration to north side
cartouche and to angle piers. Moulded base and cornice.
South side oval plaque with foliate scroll decoration each
side. West end eternal snake device in scrolled surround.
East end cherub head and umbrella.
b) early C18, with two plaques each side in arched frames with
decorated spandrels. Centre and angle pilasters. Moulded
base and cornice, broken forward over piers. West end skull
bones and hour-glass.
c) mid C18, with two shield plaques each side, cherub heads below
and foliate scroll above. Centre and angle piers with foliate
scroll decoration. Moulded base and cornice broken forward
over piers. End cartouches. North side inscription to -
Wyatt, d.1789.
