Farmhouse, now house. C17, restored by mid C20. Ground floor red and
grey brick in a mixed, Flemish-type bond. Exposed framing with rendered
infilling to first floor. Plain tile roof. L-plan. 2 storeys.
Brickwork of central section breaks forward slightly. Gable-end jetty
to left. Broadly-spaced studding, with two tension-braces to left
end bay and rail towards eaves of central section. Hipped roof, right
hip returning to rear. Short right return. Wing gabled to rear.
Filleted multiflue brick stacks; one towards centre of main range,
one towards centre of wing and one to wing gable end. Irregular fenestration
of 4 leaded casements; one three-light to left end, one three-light
to left of stack, and one five-light to right of stack and one three-
light to right end. Three-light hollow-chamfered brick mullion window
towards right end of ground floor, and similar four-light window to
right gable end. Ribbed door in moulded C17-style rectangular wooden
architrave under stack. Similar doorway to right gable end. Interior
not inspected. Formerly known as Hospital Farm. Marked on O.S. map
as Syngate House.
