Dated 1654, with initials BHL on door lintel. Typical. local C17 3-bay, 2-storey
house. Timber framed with a skin of coursed, squared stone. Some framing
visible on left return, possibly older than the stone skin. Irregular front
of 4 windows, small casements, one in its original stepped and chamfered stone
frame. Other original openings on returns. House abuts on raised terrace
behind. Inside, the south bay has chamfered beams and Joists with long, tongued
stops, main beam lateral. Main beams longitudinal in hall and service bays,
the former with chamfers, the latter plain. Upstairs, an original stone fireplace
with Tudor arch. King post type roof with very heavy members. Through purlins
at sides but ridge purlin removed and common rafters now halved.
