Rectory, now house. C16, with early-to-mid C17, late C18 and mid C20
alterations. Formerly timber framed. Front elevation probably late
C18 red and grey brick in a Flemish-type bond. Left return elevation
red and grey brick in a Sussex-type bond tmardsfront, red brick
towards rear. Plain tile roof. Central section of two, or possibly
four short, timber-framed bays. C16 right wing projecting forwards
slightly and extending to rear, comprising approximately six short
timber-framed bays. Wing to left, projecting forwards slightly, with
late C18 features but possibly earlier core, and with C19 addition to
rear. 2 storeys. Cellar to right wing. Right wing formerly jettied
to front and right return. Plat band to central section, single
flush course of grey headers to front gable end of each wing.
Dentilled brick eaves cornice to wings. Pedimented brick gable
spanning central section, with plain base band and dentilled brick
verges. Wing roofs hipped to front and rear, with slightly lower ridges
than central section. Brick ridge stack to junction of main range and
left wing. Projecting brick stack to right. Bulls-eye window to
central gable. Regular 7-window front of six recessed two-pane sashes
with splayed rubbed brick voussoirs, two to each wing and two to central
section), and central round-headed window with rubbed brick voussoirs
and radiating glazing bars. Similar ground-floor windows. One two-
light horizontally-sliding sash with segmental head to first floor of
left return. Central C19 single-storey red brick porch (altered late
C20), with panelled door in its left side. Interior: central section
has high ceiling inserted, or probably built, in early-to-mid C17,
divided into eight by ovolo-moulded cross beam and axial beams with
panelled soffits, and ovolo-moulded subsidiary cross beams. Front
ground-floor room of right wing has hollow-chamfered cross-beam,
dragon beam and joists. Jowled first-floor posts to right wing.
Common-rafter roof with high cambered collars to central section.
Finely-pierced cornice, and reeded ceiling frieze to low ceiling of
front ground-floor room of left wing. Panelled doors. C19 fireplaces.
