Road bridge over the River Soar. Dated 1785, for Loughborough
Navigation. Widened and restored 1937. 5 semi-circular ashlar
arches divided by single cutwaters with pilasters over, which
terminate at the parapet. To the right and left of the outer
arches are single walls with raised quoins with outer chamfered
rusticated piers. Extending over the arches and walls is a
single ashlar band with ashlar coped parapet over. South elevation of
the bridge with plaque inscribed "This bridge was widened in 1937
from 12 feet to 40 feet between parapets, the cost of the work
being borne jointly by the counties of Nottingham and Leicester
with the aid of a grant from the Ministry of Transport". The western part of
the bridge is in Leicestershire, in the parish of Kegworth.
