Walls, pavilion and gates. 1905 by Arnold Mitchell. Purple/brown brick walls
with ashlar dressings on the pavilion and ribbed brick dressings on walls.
Wall of approximately 100 metres in length attached at one end to service wing
of house and ending in gate piers and pavilion to south. To the west the wall
is approx. 6 feet high, to the east approximately 12 feet. Stone coping along
the top of the wall and five stone and gauged brick banded piers along the
wall alternating with diamond shaped stone panels. Arched niche to southern
end of the wall with gauged brick lining and flanked by square piers of gate-
way. Wrought-iron gate under scroll and um crest with stone urns flanking
on the piers above modillioned capitals. Niche to south of gateway connects
the wall to the square.pavilion. Pavilion:- single storey over basement with
panelled angle piers of ribbed red brick on stone plinths. Wooden modillioned
eaves cornice to ribbed copper domed roof. Three quarter glazed door in
flanking lights on west side. Basement open to south side with keystoned arch
to half-glazed basement door. Return wall to east of pavilion extends across
garden with 4 scalloped bays to either side of central gate with piers of
similar design to previous one. Rectangular pavilion to right (East end) with
gable end banded in brick and stone with copper half-domed portico on stone
Doric piers and dentilled eaves. North wall of car park attached to house at
the west end with central gateway flanked by piers on moulded plinths and under
sphere finials. Scroll topped wrought iron gates.
