C18 house of 2 storeys in coursed stone, rendered, with pantile roof. 2 windows,
1 with stone lintel, hung sashes with glazing bars, 1 with wood lintel. Ground
floor has 4 irregular windows, 2 being hung sashes with glazing bars and stone
lintels, 2 being of half-length, modern, probably in former doorway-openings.
Plain doorway in gable end and section at right-angles with elliptical carriage
archway with blocked fanlight below circular window. Rendered. Welsh slate
roof. Plinth. Plaque states that this was the residence of Dr John Kirk, the
originator of the Kirk Museum at York, from 1910 to 1938.
Forest Vale Hotel and Wall form a group with Nos 1 to 7 (consec), 9 to 15 (consec),
17 to 22 (consec), 24 to 26 (consec), No 26A and No 27 of which Nos 7, 9, 10, 22
and 24 are of local interest.
