Railway boundary marker. Probably circa 1844; for Stockton and Darlington
Railway Company. Tapered sandstone slab about one metre high with round top.
Tooled faces, with S&D inscribed in Roman capitals on south face. Historical
note: the Stockton and Darlington Company took over the Stanhope and Tyne
Railroad Company after it encountered financial problems.
