6/10008 Grove Farmhouse
II

House, formerly farmhouse. C16 timber-framed house extended and
refronted in early C19. Timber framing of 5 bays exposed to north
front on brick or stone base. 2 storeys: 4 windows. South front tile
hung on first floor, red brick on ground floor with tiled roof with
2 brick chimneystacks. West wing is early C19 addition of tooled
sandstone ashlar with red brick dressings. North front has exposed box
frame with curved wind braces. Irregular C20 casements. The base of
sandstone rubble to central 3 bays and brick to the end suggests the
end bays are not of the original build. Mid C19 brick gabled porch to
right hand side. South front has 3 casements, triangular brick
buttress and gabled weatherboarded weather porch with Gothic pointed
lights in side. West wing is of higher elevation and has a C20
casement in original cambered architrave. Roof has original rafters
