House, originally the Old Rectory. C17, refronted in 1710 during incumbency of
the Rev. Joseph Richardson. Dated plaque bearing the initials of subsequent
incumbant Edward Eliot. Galleted sandstone block with red brick dressings and
plain tiled roofs. Two storeys and attics with brick plinth and brick cornices
over ground and first floors. Brick string course to top third of gables.
Stacks to centre rear and ends. Attics in outer gables and under hipped, diamond-
pane, leaded casement dormer to centre. Regular facade with one wide 12-pane
glazing bar sash window in each outer gable, two 16-pane sashes to outer gables
below, slightly projecting, and two narrow 8-light sashes to centre. Slightly
recessed bay to centre with windows in quoined surrounds and under gauged brick
heads. Similar arrangement to ground floor with central panelled door under
flat hood. The overall effect of the front is very decorative.
