Corner block of shops and houses. Early C19. Local stone rubble with brick formerly rendered, With horizontal fantel
rustication to ground floor with plat band; presumably flat roof behind parapet. 3 storeys, 9-bay facade run around a
corner, bay 5 being set on the curve. Plinth, cornice; keyed rendered surrounds with keystones to 12-pane sashes on
first floor and 3-pane sash windows to second; to ground floor a wide 6-pane bay 1, set into C19 shopfront with simple
wood pilasters and fascia; blank bay 3; early C20 shopfront with plain windows and central recessed doors spread over
bays 4 to 6; plain window bay 8 and 12-pane sash window in segmental arched opening to bay-9: to bays 2, 7 and between
8 and 9 are elaborate doorways with 4-panel doors and 3-pane fanlights set into timber panelled recesses flanked by
Tuscan pilasters with entablatures and flat hoods. Interiors not seen. Visually important in centre of town.
