Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1928 for Edward Hudson. It comprises an archway
which is the main entrance to the garden, opposite the main entrance to the
house, with, on each side of it, a single-storeyed L-shaped cottage.
The centre portion is of red brick with a doorway on the outer side set in
a moulded wooden architrave surround with pulvinated frieze and pediment and
on the inner side, an archway shaped like a Venetian window with Ionic columns.
The cottages are faced with weatherboarding on a red brick base. Hipped tiled
roof. Twin brick chimney stacks on a rectangular base to each wing of each
L. Three sash windows with hips over on each side of the gateway facing west
and three hipped dormers on each side facing east.
