II
Detached house. Early/Mid C19 front across small late C18 core, with
late C19 additions forming 2 rear ranges. Ashlar front, some
render to left hand return, remainder in coursed rock-faced
masonry. Concrete tile roof, twin polygonal ashlar flues to stone
stacks at rear of each of front gables, remaining ridge stacks
brick with moulded stone cappings and 2 large stepped stone lateral
stacks. Front in Gothick style with 2 steeply pitched gables both
with elaborate decorative barge boards and fascias. 2 storeys and
attic. 3 bays, canted 4-light oriels to each side on 1st floor in
moulded stone frames and with hipped stone roof, below projecting
2-light square bays also in moulded stone frames. Gable windows
and central first floor windows are 2-light stone mullions with
square hoodmould. All lights with interlaced Gothick tracery.
Central projecting porch with castellated corner turrets, embattled
front parapet, wide pointed front archway, 2 narrow side arches, 2
niches flanking door with thin colonnettes and multi-cusped open
tracery heads. Door in Gothick panelling with quatrefoils inset
in central rail. Fanlight with graduated pointed-arch tracery.
