Pump. C19. Cast iron wheel pump on original cast iron frame. The pump stem,
with upper and lower spouts, is attached to a timber support post set in front
(north) of the wheel and frame. Frame comprises a pair of supports each with
curved sides enclosing a head above 2 Gothic arches and 3 similar base arches.
Iron side ties. The frame supports a cranked shaft driven by a balanced, 4
spoked hand wheel. Moulded frame inscription reads: J. Tylor & Sons, Engineers,
Warwick Lane, London. A rare survival of a wheel pump in Essex. The pump is
now covered by a C20 gabled pump house with seat at rear. J. Booker, Batsford
